President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Lt. General Paul Valentino Phiri as the Commander of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF). General Phiri replaces

Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Collen Zamba confirmed the appointment in a statement made available to Malawi Voice.

According to Zamba, President Chakwera has also promoted has promoted him (Phiri) to the rank of General with immediate effect.

General Phiri replaces General Vincent Nundwe.
