Ex-Minister Henry Mussa’s sentencing today

High Court judge Patrick Chirwa is today expected to sentence former minister of information Henry Mussa and former director of information Gideon Munthali after the two were convicted of stealing government computers and a generator set.

Chirwa is presiding over the case in his former capacity as a Chief Resident Magistrate.

Meanwhile, the State has appealed to the court that the two, whose bails were revoked on conviction, should be slapped with custodial sentences.

Lawyer representing Mussa, Kalekeni Kaphale, has pleaded with the court to be lenient with his client on the basis that he is a first-time offender and that he already paid over K7 million and returned some items to government.
