Elon Musk Proposes Changes In Twitter Messaging

Elon Musk who recently acquired a microblogging site, Twitter, has proposed the introduction of end-to-end encryption to Twitter Direct Messages (DMs) to prevent spying on or hacking users’ messages.

Musk claims he acquired Twitter to enhance freedom of speech. He reportedly paid $44 billion.

“Twitter DMs should have end-to-end encryption like Signal, so no one can spy on or hack your messages,” said Musk.

Encryption ensures only you and the person you’re communicating with can read or listen to what is sent, and nobody in between.

This feature is already in use in applications such as WhatsApp where even WhatsApp is unable to read your messages.

Facebook messenger also has end-to-end encryption.

The content of your messages and calls in an end-to-end encrypted conversation is protected from the moment it leaves your device to the moment it reaches the receiver’s device.
