Ecobank Malawi rolls out upgraded banking platform

Ecobank Malawi has rolled out its upgraded mobile banking platform to complement its Ecobank mobile app used by millions of customers across Africa and beyond.

The upgraded *326# mobile banking platform comes with new features, making it easy to transact on any mobile phone without data.

Kalambule: We want to serve our customers better

In a statement, Ecobank Malawi country head of consumer banking Sophie Kalambule said customers who are on Ecobank mobile app need to dial *326# and input a six-digit pin they use to self-register on the new mobile banking platform.

“For those who are not yet on Ecobank mobile app, they can simply self-register using their Ecobank Visa debit card by dialling *326# and following simple prompts and steps,” she said.

Kalambule said the bank wants to serve its customers better by constantly improving and upgrading its systems and platforms to meet their needs.

Reads the statement: “Through this upgraded platform, our customers will be able to send and receive money instantly to and from 33 African countries where Ecobank is present via rapid transfer service.

“Over and above sending money to other local banks and mobile wallets, customers will also be able to send money via Xpress cash where one can cash at any Ecobank automated teller machine [ATM] without using an ATM card.”
Kalambule said Ecobank Malawi customers will also be able to shop using EcobankPay option, buy airtime, pay for Medical Aid Society of Malawi subscription, pay Blantyre Water Board bills, pay Malawi Revenue Authority duty and taxes, pay for television subscription, check balances as well as bank statements.

“The good thing is that all this can be done anytime, anywhere using any mobile phone without data, thereby contributing to the financial inclusion drive,” she said.

Ecobank Malawi Limited is part of the Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group.

The Ecobank Group employs about 14 000 people and serves about 29 million customers in the consumer, commercial and corporate banking sectors across 33 African countries.
