Ecobank Malawi has partnered Mikozi Network and Boniface Ndamera of Chinafuna m’bale fame to champion this year’s Ecobank Day on November 12.

Ecobank Day is the bank’s flagship annual corporate social investment event that showcases its commitment towards giving back to the communities.

In a statement, Ecobank Malawi head of brand, marketing and corporate communications Tidzi Chalamba said the partnership will also help to uplift people with disabilities.

He said: “As a leading pan-African bank and a responsible corporate citizen, this year we are geared to drive financial inclusion and support towards persons with disabilities.

“We are, therefore, pleased to partner Boniface Ndamera to be our champion in driving awareness that disability is not inability.

Mikozi director Bright Chiligo said the coming in of Ndamera will motivate and inspire many youths.

He said: “Mr. Ndamera is proof that disability is not inability. Visual impairment has never pulled him back from his musical dream.

“With his art, he supports his whole family, including grandchildren. He is truly an inspiration to many youths.”

Ndamera thanked Ecobank Malawi for making him champion of Ecobank Day.

“It has always been my wish to lobby support towards my friends with disabilities and call on people to support their businesses and talents as they have supported me throughout the years,” he said.

This year’s Ecobank Day will focus on taking positive action and driving awareness and discussions about financial inclusion towards persons with disabilities. It will be held under the theme ‘Financial inclusion for all, leave no one behind’.

Last year, Ecobank Day focused on mental health and partnered mental health expert Professor Chiwoza Bandawe and social media influencer Pemphero Mphande.

Ecobank Malawi Limited is part of the Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group which employs over 14 000 people and serves 29 million customers in the consumer, commercial and corporate banking sectors across 33 African countries.
