News reaching Malawi Voice indicates that police in Blantyre are keeping in custody Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Ward Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Leonard Chimbanga for being found with unlicensed gun.

According to reports, the outspoken former governing DPP’s National Governing Council (NGC) member Chimbanga who has been denied a police bail, is being kept at Soche Police in Blantyre, and will appear in court soon.  

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) is on the record to have advised Malawians several times register their firearms with government falling which if found they will be prosecuted.
