Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South is in Karonga where he is attending the official opening of the June 2023 Synod Prorinator General Assembly.

The event is being held at Church of African Presbyterian Synod of Ching’oma at Luromo in Karonga.

Nankhumwa has been accompanied by Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkhata Bay South East,who is also DPP Chief Whip in Parliament,Julius Chione Mwase, former DPP Regional Governor for the Northern Region Kenneth Sanga, Karonga North Mungasulwa Mwambande, former MP for Karonga South Chembe Munthali, and several DPP officials.

Nankhumwa is expected to contest as President during the elective conference of the opposition DPP this coming July.
