The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has criticized President Chakwera’s recently announced 27-member cabinet as being too large and lacking in fresh perspectives.
“A twenty seven member cabinet cannot be described as leaner. The DPP for five years managed to have a twenty member cabinet which is a true definition of leaner cabinet,” read part of the statement.
The party’s spokesperson, Shadric Namalomba, stated in a release that the appointment failed to deliver on the President’s promise of a lean cabinet.
According to the DPP, the current crisis facing Malawi is due to poor leadership, and recycling failed ministers from one ministry to another will not solve the country’s issues.
