DPP member Dyton Mussa acquitted in murder case

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth Director Dyton Mussa and three other have been acquitted from a murder case where three family members were burnt to death following the torching of United Transformation Movement (UTM) offices.

The UTM Party office was petrol-bombed prior to the June 23 Fresh Presidential Election.

Security guard Selemani Tambala, his wife Ayiles and son Shukuran, who were living within the office premises, died at Kamuzu Central Hospital while receiving treatment for severe burns incurred in the fire.

Police investigations led to the arrest of 12 suspects including former United Democratic Front (UDF) spokesperson Ken Ndanga.

But yesterday, Judge Annabel Mtalimanja of the High Court discharged the four from the case.

Meanwhile, the case is proceeding today where the state will start parading witnesses.
