DPP disowns Nankhumwa rally slatted for Sunday in Lilongwe

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has disowned a rally organized by the party’s estranged Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa at Mgona ground in Lilongwe this coming Sunday.

Nankhumwa together with the party’s Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey are scheduled to address the party supporters in Lilongwe on a number of issues rocking the country.

But Nankhumwa’s rally has crashed with another rally which will be hosted by the party’s Vice President for the central Region Zelia Chakale this coming Saturday.

Commenting on the development DPP’s organizing secretary has disowned Nankhumwa’s rally.

According to Chimwemwe Chipungu, his office which organizes the rallies is only aware of the one to be led by vice president for central region Zelia Chakale this Saturday and is not aware of the one organized by secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey whose guest of honour is the party’s vice president for the south Kondwani Nankhumwa next day.

DPP is currently rocked in leadership crisis with some party officials calling for the immediate resignation of former President Peter Mutharika.

But Mutharika has trashed the calls on several times.
