DPP Deputy Director Fredrick Billy Malata Remanded at Maula Prison Over Defamation Charges

The Democratic Progressive Party’s Deputy Director of Political Affairs, Fredrick Billy Malata, has been remanded to Maula prison on defamation charges.

Malata was arrested by Lilongwe Police after a court-sanctioned warrant obtained by DPP member Alfred Gangata.

Gangata is one of the individuals Malata allegedly claimed to be financiers of confusion within the party, alongside Dalitso Kabambe and Apostle Clifford Kawinga.

Gangata refrained from commenting on the matter due to its legal nature but emphasized that it serves as a lesson to Malata for making statements without proper evidence.

Kabambe, another accused party, has threatened to take Malata to court for his defamatory WhatsApp post and demanded a K20 million compensation.
