The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has declared United Tranformation Movement (UTM) Party which is headed by the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima dead in Eastern Region.

The declaration follows the resignation of former UTM Patron for the region Honourable Alhaj Ben Kambulire who has since joined DPP.

DPP Eastern Regional Governor Honourable Sheik Emran Njenje welcomed Kambulire into blue camp in Mangochi on Wednesday.

“The coming in of Honourable Alhaj Ben Kambulire to the mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) marks the end of the UTM in Eastern Region,” reads part of the message posted on DPP official facebook page.

Effort to talk to UTM spokesperson Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo proved futile.
