Chisenjere Court in Blantyre has rejected the request of Leonard Chimbanga, a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) councilor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward to be given a bail in the case of being found with a gun without proper documents.

Court made the ruling on 20 December this year, following the request of Chimbanga who asked to be released on a bail following his arrest on 15 December this year.

Chileka police spokesperson Jonathan Philipo, said that the court rejected Chimbanga’s request in order to give the government enough time to investigate and have all the evidence on the matter.

Philipo said that Chimbanga who is a councilor of Soche East will appear in court on 28 December 2023.
