Court slaps Mtima Gondwe on the face for challenging installation of Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe

High court judge Violet Chipawo has dismissed with costs a plea, by former Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe, Mtima Gondwe and Group Village Headman Mbawuwo Chilongozi Gondwe, to challenge the installation of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe as the Tumbuka king.

The two sides were back in court over the appointment and installation of the Tumbuka king last year, the event which was presided over by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

In the plea Mtima Gondwe argued that the appointment of Bongololo Gondwe was done against Tumbuka customs, against government directions and it failed to meet court’s direction.

But in his ruling, Judge Chipawo quashed Mtima Gondwe’s claims with costs.

Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen if Mtima Gondwe will continue fighting for Tumbuka leadership role or not.
