Court favours Botamani in PAC chairmanship saga, injunction lifted

High court in Blantyre has lifted an injunction which stopped the chairmanship of lawmaker Mark Botoman at the Public Accounts Committee of parliament.

Botoman’s fellow parliamentarian, Shadreck Namalomba, who was heading the Committee, obtained the injunction on grounds that he was unlawfully removed from the post.

Wapona Kita who represented Botoman in the case said PAC can now start performing its functions in a democratic set up following the ruling which says Botoman was duly elected and not appointed for the position.

Namalomba’s lawyer, Bob Chimkango, said he is yet to get the full ruling.
