Court denies bail to St Lukes Hospital Clinician suspected of defiling 3 year old daughter

The Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Zomba will make its bail ruling tomorrow in a case where Moses Chinula, a clinician at St Luke’s Hospital, is accused of allegedly defiling his three-year-old daughter.

Defence lawyer Patrick Debwe applied for bail after State Prosecutor Josephine Chigawa told the court that four of the State’s witnesses were not present in court.

Chigawa, in her submission, further reminded the court the seriousness of the offence, arguing that once released, the suspect might tamper with witnesses.

Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda then adjourned the matter to 9am tomorrow where he will give his ruling on the bail application.
