Court adjourns Henry Mussa’s bail appeal to June 6

Mussa and Munthali during recent court appearances

Lilongwe High court has adjourned to 6th June, a hearing on a bail application pending appeal for former Minister of Information Henry Mussa and former Director in the ministry Gideon Munthali.

This comes as the state provided their written submissions late for the defence to reply.

Chrispin Mndala, one of the defence lawyers, said they asked for the adjournment of the case due to the delay.

Mndala said they want ample time so that they can thoroughly go through the submissions.

Meanwhile, Dzikondianthu Malunda, one of the state lawyers said they are not objecting the plea by the defence as they will need to scrutinize the provided affidavits.

Mussa, a senior Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) member, was sentenced to five years in March, 2023.

Mussa and co-convict Munthali were convicted of conspiracy to steal and receiving stolen goods in relation to the missing ten computers and a Genset at Ministry of Information.
