Court acquits Eisenhower Mkaka’s bodyguard

The Lilongwe first grade magistrate court has acquitted former bodyguard for minister of natural Resources Eisenhower Mkaka, Osman Chimsinga, who was arrested in April 2022 on allegations of breaking into a building and committing a felony.

On the night of 12th April, 2022, unknown persons broke into a warehouse belonging to Liberty properties limited at Njewa in Lilongwe and store various items of over 20 million kwacha.

Police later in the same month arrested eight suspects, including Chimsinga, in connection to the incident.
He was accused of personally participating, and providing his police uniform that was used, in the commission of the crime.

In his ruling made after the state had finished parading its witnesses, first grade magistrate Chakaka Nyirenda found the suspect with no case to answer, observing that “the evidence connecting him to the crime was too remote to raise any case requiring the fourth accused person to enter defense.”

His Lawyer, Silvester Ayuba James, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, saying his client had been wrongly accused.
