Mbelwa District Council director for education, youth and sports Fiddes Msowoya has asked communities not to sell beer to teachers during working hours.
The sentiment has been made during the council meeting with the community in Development activities and right people claim organization held in Mzimba district.
There have been claims registered by various schools in the district, that there is high abscondment of teachers because they are allegedly spend time in drinking joints during working hours.
“We ask communities to be vigilant in watching such teachers conduct as it is slowing down students performances in schools”, said Msowoya.
Executive Director for Rights People Claim Edward Nkhata has said that Ethuleni Primary school in Mzimba North has three teachers against.
