Concerned citizens offer to mediate in Nankhumwa, Mutharika fight

A group trading under the banner concerned citizens has offered to mediate in the ongoing infighting in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

The offer follows a decision by DPP leader Peter Mutharika to continue sidelining DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa and the party’s estranged Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey on some activities of the party.

The two were on Tuesday night invited in an Indaba which was held at PAGE house in the eastern district of Mangochi.

In a letter addressed to Mutharika and copied to Nankhumwa, leader of the concerned citizen Oliver Nakoma said the infighting in the party has greatly affected the party.

“We would like to request for an audience with you, Former President Peter Mutharika and Leader of DPP and the Leader of Opposition for a round-table discusions on matters related to the future of the party. The aim of the proposed round-table meeting is to find solutions to end political divisions in the main opposition political party ahead of 2025 general elections,” reads in part the letter.
