COMSIP TO USE LITTERED PLASTICS TO GROW TREE SEEDLINGS

Members of Chabwe Community Savings and Investment Promotion (COMSIP) have start an initiative aimed at clearing the environment and use littered plastics to grow tree seedlings.

Community facilitator of the grouping which comprises beneficiaries of Social Cash Transfer (SCT) program, Ethel Kanyenda said they use locally available materials to plant tree seedlings.

“We use empty milk pouches as of now due to lack of funds. However, we’ve managed to raise 3,276 tree seedlings, some of which will be given to various institutions,” she said.

Community Development Officer Anne Dongolosi, applauded the group for taking a good care of the environment using funds generated from its savings.

The group, which comprises of 32 members has so far raised about K660,700.
