Civo out to avenge loss to Sable Farming

Civil Sporting Club (Civo) take on Sable Farming in their opening fixture of the 2022 TNM Super Leagues season at Civo Stadium mindful of the pain the rookies inflicted on them in the FDH bank Cup quarter-finals.

It was an embarrassing moment for coach Franco Ndawa, losing 5-4 to the then lower league side in the cup encounter.

Now the coach is looking forward to avenging the loss to baptise the newly-promoted outfit in the top-flight league.

Ndawa said: “Well, they beat us right here in Lilongwe at our backyard. We don’t want a repeat of that scenario. We want to collect full points.”

Coming from Nzika Pamtsetse Bonanza losses to Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers, Ndawa said they had worked on the shortfalls.

On his part, the farmers coach Joseph Malizani said they want to use the opening fixture against Civil to announce their arrival in the top-fight league.

“Our target is to win this match to send a message to other teams that we are here to stay.”

Eight games are lined up on the first day of the season.

This afternoon Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers clash at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Karonga United will host Kamuzu Barracks at Karonga Stadium while Ekwendeni Hammers will be at home against TN Stars at Mzuzu Stadium.

The battle for points resumes tomorrow as Tigers host Moyale Barracks at Mpira Stadium while Red Lions and Silver Strikers clash at Balaka Stadium.

Rumphi United and Dedza Dynamos clash at Rumphi Stadium. Mafco will host Blue Eagles at Chitowe Stadium in Nkhotakota
