A 23-year-old woman in Chiradzulu, Ethel Mphaya, has been arrested for allegedly murdering her four-year-old child by striking him on the head with a panga knife.

The incident occurred in Mthopa village under Traditional Authority Likoswe in the district.

According to Chiradzulu police spokesperson, Constable Cosmas Kagulo, witnesses reported that the woman had been displaying signs of mental disorder for the past three days.

On the morning of the incident, she woke up threatening to kill her husband with a panga knife.

The husband managed to flee the scene with another child, leaving the boy behind who was tragically killed.

The woman is now answering murder charges.
