Chilima To Speak On His Alleged Involvement In Sattar’s Corruption Scandal On Friday

Vice president Saulos Chilima has said he will address the nation on Friday, July 1st, 2022 on emerging issues of national interest, his party United Transformation Movement (UTM) has confirmed.

According to UTM spokesperson Frank Mwenifumbo, Chilima will address the nation in his capacity as the country’s vice president and UTM president.

Mwenifumbo said the address is scheduled to take place at UTM offices in Area 10, Lilongwe from 10am.

Chilima has therefore called on UTM supports and the general public to remain calm.

The address will come after a week President Lazarus Chakwera crippled delegated powers of Chilima’s office over his alleged involvement in corruption activities.

According to the country’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Chilima is among public officials who dealt corruptly with British-Malawian businessman Zuneth Sattar.

However, Chilima has vehemently denied the allegations.

Some stakeholders have been calling for the resignation of the vice president to pave way for investigations, but he is yet to make a decision on the same.

At the same time, Sattar speaking to one of British media house, has denied bribing public officials the country.
