The country’s vice president made his first public appearance since his arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) few weeks ago.
Chilima was seen on Sunday morning seeing off his boss President Lazarus Chakwera who has left then country for the United State of America where he is expecting to attend US-African Leaders’ Summit.
According to reports, Chilima arrived at Kamuzu International Airport around 1 am without sirens and spoke briefly with Chakwera before he took off alongside his wife Monica Chakwera.
Chilima is accused of receiving an advantage from UK based businessman Zuneth Sattar to influence awarding of contracts to two companies belonging to Sattar by government.
Chilima has nether denied nor accept the charges, he only said that he will let the processes work.
He is currently on court bail.
