State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima will be accompanied by 15 delegates including Minister of Finance and Economic Development Sosten Gwengwe to New York, United States of America where he will be attending the 2022 United Nation (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum for Financing Development.
This is contrary to social media reports claiming that Chilima will be accompanied by over 40 delegates.
In a statement released by Chilima’s spokesperson Pilirani Phiri, the summit will run for four days and Chilima has been requested to deliver a key note speech.
“His Excellence President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has delegated the Vice President to represent him and lead the Malawian delegation from the Ministry of Finance and other sectors the four day forum scheduled for 25th to 28th April 2022.
“The Vice President’s Office will have an entourage of 15,” reads in part the statement.
