CHILDRENS PARLIAMENT CRUCIAL IN CURBING ISSIUES HINDERIG CHILD RIGHTS

Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Agnes Nkusankhoma presided over the closing ceremony of the 6th session of Mwanza Children’s Parliament on friday which is very powerful in fighting against the violation of child rights as is also empower the children with skills in many areas.

Agnes Nkusankhoma said she is very worried over the increase of gender based violence which the children are facing.

“More children are being defiled and some are getting married which is a big challenge and it is contributing to high school dropout, by introducing Children Parliament Programme can help to hear the voice of children through authorities like government officials, chiefs and political leaders,” she said.

Member of Parliament for Mwanza Central Constituency, Nicholas Dausi thanked Save The Children for the programme which has brought positive change among children from all levels primary, secondary and tertiary.

“I thank all the well-wishers for helping the children because the government alone cannot manage to reach out to everyone,” he said
