President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has once again said he was not aware of the arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.

Chakwera said this today in parliament when responding to questions from lawmakers at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe.

In his speech Chakwera hinted that he instituted a commission of inquiry into the matter to an unearth the truth of the matter.

He said as a President, he cannot order an arrest of anyone because such bodies operate independently.

Chizuma’s arrest led to the firing of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steven Kayuni.
