President Lazarus Chakwera says Malawians should emulate the example of the late Ambassador Charles Msosa who worked with selflessness, humility, hard work and integrity to contribute to the country’s development.
Msosa, who until his death on April 25 2022 was Malawi’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and African Union (AU), was laid to rest at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe on Monday.

During the funeral service at Kaning’a CCAP in Area 47, Lilongwe on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo, speaking on behalf of the President, said Chakwera was saddened by the passing on of Msosa who worked hard to contribute to the development of the country.
She said the President appreciated the efforts by Msosa as they worked together in many foreign government engagements such as in Ethiopia and he was saddened to lose such a dedicated and humble citizen.
Tembo said: “As a country, we have lost a hard-working man who worked with selflessness, humility and integrity to contribute to the development of the nation. The President is asking Malawians to emulate good gestures and hard-working spirit portrayed by the late Msosa.”
Malawi representative at AU, Levi Jere, said Msosa worked hard to promote values of all Malawians at AU, thereby contributing towards the realisation of the Agenda 2063 in the world and Africa as a whole.
He said the AU and the AU Economic Commission for Africa were saddened by the death of Msosa.
Ministry of Health Principal Sceretar y (PS) Charles Mwansambo, who spoke on behalf of the bereaved family, said the family was in deep shock with the passing of the late Msosa.
He thanked the President for the support rendered to the family.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Dr Takondwa Msosa said his father was a unique soul full of humility, selflessness, kindness and integrity and that his legacy shall live on in the family.
He thanked the Malawi community in Ethiopia and others for the support given to the family during the bereavement.
Msosa graduated from the University of Malawi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration and later pursued a Master of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States of America.
He joined the civil service in 1983 where he worked in various government ministries and rose to the level of PS. He was appointed to the diplomatic service ON October 9 2021.
Chakwera condoled the bereaved family with K1.5 million while Vice-President Saulos Chilima donated K1million .
Born on June 3 1959, Msosa is survived by a wife and three children.
