A few hours after arriving in the country from Equatorial Guinea, President Lazarus Chakwera has gone to console the Nkhata family following the demise of their son and hip-hop artist Martse-born Martin Nkhata.
In the company of his wife, Monica, the Malawi leader arrived at the Nkhata residence in Likuni, Lilongwe at 17:45 pm on Sunday.
He was welcomed by Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda, Homeland Security Minister Jean Sendeza, and other government officials.
Martse died on Monday, May 23 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after the house he was sleeping in, was gutted down by fire in Monkey Bay.
He had sustained serious multiple burns in the process.
Martse was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 25 at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe after an emotional farewell service at Civo Stadium where people from all walks of life gathered to pay their last respect.
