Chakwera Challenged On Corruption Fight

The Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has been challenged to show his seriousness in fighting corruption by clearing growing public perception that some of his ministers and State House officials are involved in organized underhand dealings.

The grouping called Centre for Democracy Watch (CEDWAT) made the call through a media statement signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Levi Luwemba and Publicity Secretary Hebrews Misomali

The statement claims that it is no longer a secret that the Chakwera led administration has received enough voices of discontent on its management of state affairs hence need to change its ways.

“Truth be told, Malawi is fast losing its warm-heartedness. Corruption, nepotism, political lies, executive arrogance, indecisiveness and general lack of direction remain prevalent even with the current regime,” read part of the statement.

Chakwera has also been asked to take seriously the Catholic Bishops Pastoral letter with a warning that if he ignores he will risk making his administration more unpopular and detached from the wishes of the citizenry.
