President Lazarus Chakwera today has called for collaborative efforts between government, citizens and partners in closing the food supply gap in the country as 9 million Malawians are in need of food assistance following the effects of the El-Nino weather conditions.
The president said this at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe today at the inauguration of the 2024 Malawi Red Cross Flag Week.
The flag week is aimed at raising funds to support its initiatives and disaster response efforts.
Chakwera has since donated K2 million towards the disaster response activities by Malawi Red Cross Society.
