President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has assented to four bills that the National Assembly passed recently.
State House Press Officer Anthony Kasunda has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
The bills were passed in the previous seating of Parliament.
The Bills are:
-Bill No. 16 of 2022: One-Stop Border Control The law will facilitate coordinated border controls for efficient cross-border movements of people and clearance of goods in Malawi and neighbouring countries of Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia.
– Bill No. 29 of 2022: Malawi School of Government; which in essence merges the Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) and the Staff Development Institute (SDI) to enhance the training of public officers.
– Bill No. 31 of 2022: Gaming and Lotteries; which now means that the Malawi Gaming Board and the National Lotteries Board form one entity known as Gaming and Lotteries.
– Bill No. 34 of 2022: OPEC Fund for International Development -SADC Sub Regional Transport and Trade Facilitation Project, which authorises the government to borrow K20 billion for the rehabilitation of the Benga –Nkhotakota –Dwangwa section of M5 Road.
