CDEDI Plans Site Visit to Central Poultry Following Accusations of Not Meeting Hygienic Standards

The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has informed Central Poultry and the Lilongwe City Council of plans to conduct a site visit to the company’s premises.

This comes after the company was accused of not meeting hygienic standards, and the closure of the company as a preventive measure to contain the spread of the cholera outbreak in the city.

In a letter written by the Executive Director of CDEDI, Sylvester Namiwa, it was revealed that the organization intends to fact-find at the company’s premises following its recent reopening of business operations.

The letter also stated that CDEDI will also use this opportunity to address long-standing complaints by city residents of Area 1(Falls), Area 36, and those along the M1 road, who have been negatively affected by the pungent smell from the company’s open waste disposal vehicles.

As of now, there has been no immediate comment from Central Poultry and the +*regarding the CDEDI’s planned visit..
