CDEDI gives Chakaka Nyirenda 7 days ultimatum on MK750 million AIP botched deal

The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has given Attorney general Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda seven days to explain to Malawians whether Malawi has managed to recover the MK750 million paid to a foreign company to supply fertilizer which was not delivered despite the money being paid.

CDEDI Executive Director Silvester Namiwa argued that, over four months have elapsed after the money was paid to the company but no information on recovery is being provided hence the request.

He adds that if the AG has failed to recover the money he should resign.

Namiwa who was speaking this morning at a press briefing held in Lilongwe, has since warned that if the AG will not respond in seven days, CDEDI will be holding vigils at his office.

He also said those involved in the missing of funds be arrested.
