CDEDI call off vigils aimed pushing for Chakaka Nyirenda’s resignation

The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has suspended its vigils at the Capital Hill main entrance in Lilongwe, citing security concerns.

CDEDI has been holding the vigils to push for the resignation of Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, for failing to recover 750 million kwacha for the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP).

He claimed that police have withdrawn the security personnel that was assigned hence raising security threats at the vigil premises.

On Monday, the law enforcers detained a minibus carrying over 20 youths which were on a mission to disrupt the vigils.

Meanwhile, it is not yet known as to who hired the said gang of youths.
