Cashgate Convict Pika Manondo’s Mk146 million forfeit case in court

The High Court in Lilongwe is this afternoon hearing an application by Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda for a forfeiture order against Pika Manondo.

According to Nyirenda they would like to forfeiture the sum of over 146 million kwacha from Manondo.

Manondo has agreed that was indeed served with an application on 21st December 2021.

He says he was not served with the notice on the commencement of the hearing on the matter.

Manondo, who is a convict in the attempted murder of Paul Mphwiyo- former budget director for Ministry of Finance -was found with the 147 Million Kwacha in a safe box which he was keeping at First Merchant Bank (FMB) which is now called First Capital Bank in Lilongwe Branch.

The money was found in 2013 by police when Manondo fled the country through Mchinji border three days after Mphwiyo was shot at the gate of his Area 43 residence.
