CapeStars fuels Gin Day celebrations

Listen

On Saturday, revellers in Lilongwe had the opportunity to have a feel of the newly introduced CapeStars spirits during Gin Day celebrations at Baraza in Area 43.

CapeStars producers took advantage of the day to popularise the liquors as they await the official launch which is scheduled to take place next week.

Revellers gathered at the joint as early as 4pm waiting to have their first experience of the locally made spirits.

Ernest Maganga proved to be an able host of the event.

Among the patrons were reputable names such as Holland-based model-cum-entrepreneur Mabel Khonje, and she was full of praise for the spirits.

“The spirits have a great taste, really amazing quality. This is what the Malawi market needs. We should not always be waiting to get the best things from outside the country. We have the resources to do things on our own right here at home,” she said.

Producers of the spirits, HS Winehouse said they used the platform to introduce their products on the market and solicit feedback.

In his address, HS Winehouse director Wilkins Mijiga said their products seek to facilitate friendships and progressive interactions. He said: “The community here at Baraza has been crucial to the development of this brand. From the day we started making consultations they were involved and we regard them as part of the brand. We have relied on international brands for so long, but this is now the time for Malawians to sample their own.”
