The Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) under its EI Nino Response project are supporting at least 891 households affected by hunger in Phalombe.
Assistant Programmes Coordinator at CADECOM Head Office, Vincent Tenthani said this when 421 households in the district received K150, 000 each under the project.
“The money is to cushion the beneficiaries who do not have food due to the adverse weather conditions and were also unable to cultivate because their land was destroyed at the time by Cyclone Freddy” said Tenthani.
Andoleje Fulusa is one of the beneficiaries from Katemera village in T/A Phweremwe, said she was thankful as she and her four grandchildren were destitute.
CADECOM is implementing the project with funding from Trocaire.
