Bullets coach says there was nothing special

Nyasa Big Bullets coach KallistoPasuwa has said there was nothing extraordinary behind his team’s TNM Super League success other than good planning.

The Zimbabwean tactician said this after guiding the People’s Team to their fourth successive league title and a record 16th overall on Saturday.

Pasuwa: It was all about good planning

He said while there were doubts about the People’s Team’s capability to defend the title, having released about 12 experienced players, he had faith in his predominantly new squad.

Said Pasuwa: “There was nothing special. It is all about good planning, because if you plan well, you win games.

“As Bullets, we play so many games in a season and we plan in many aspects and we got rewarded.”

On the move to offload the bulk of experienced players, the former Zimbabwe National Football Team and Dynamos FC coach said: “It was what management wanted. They gave me a homework to revamp the team.

“They wanted us to rebuild the team. [Of course], there was a time when pressure appeared to take a toll on the young players, but with time, they settled down.”

Football analyst Charles Nyirenda said the picture created by Bullets’ remarkable run, which saw them win the title with two games to spare, is that there is no competition in the flagship league.

“It tells us that the other teams aren’t competitive enough. In fact, by comparison, the relatively new [Bullets] squad has outperformed the previous season’s squad.

“Bullets are getting better organised by the day and it is time for their competitors to wake up and do something before the whole business of battles for league supremacy turn into a farce with a single team dominance monotony,” he said.

Bullets seasled the title with a 3-1 win over Moyale Barracks. They now have 67 points from 28 matches.
