A British national recently escaped from Zomba Mental Hospital, according to authorities.
Hospital spokesperson Harry Kawiya expressed concern about the individual potentially posing harm to himself or others.
The man had been admitted to Zomba Mental Hospital by the police due to his incoherent statements.
Among these statements was his assertion that an artificial intelligence chip had been implanted in his head, and he believed that people were pursuing him.
The Eastern Region Police Deputy Spokesperson, Tionge Kayenda, confirmed the incident.
The British national had reportedly resided in Malawi for over five years. The escape has raised questions and sparked an investigation.
