Boat capsizes in Zambia, claiming lives of two schoolchildren

Two pupils from Nsamba Primary and Secondary School in Lunga, Luapula Province, have drowned after the boat they were in capsized on Mukamba Lagoon.

The victims, identified as 14-year-old Grade 7 pupil Patrick Bupe and 16-year-old Grade 9 pupil Benson Kaseka, were on holiday and had gone to look for bumble grass to make a garden.

According to Nsamba Primary School head teacher Humphrey Mwewa, the pupils encountered a strong wind on their way back, which caused the boat to capsize.
