On Monday, April 15, just after 7 p.m., there was a shocking incident at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, Sydney. Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, who is well-known in the Orthodox community, was stabbed while giving a sermon.

During Mass, a man with a knife approached the altar and started attacking the bishop, stabbing him in the neck and shoulder. People watching the live video of the sermon screamed in fear as they witnessed the violence.

Members of the congregation rushed to the altar to stop the attacker, but some of them also came under attack.

Later, a picture surfaced showing the bishop being carried on a stretcher to an ambulance.

This incident happened less than 48 hours after another stabbing at Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon, April 13.
