Classes at Lisawo Primary School in Chiradzulu have been suspended, two days after opening as learners and teachers are complaining of bed bug infestation in some classroom blocks.
Head teacher for the school Vinicent Nowa said he suspects, this is due to the presence of over 400 flood survivors who are camping at the school, whose presence there, “has made teaching and learning difficult.”
Nowa said together with the school management committee, they are planning to disinfect all the classrooms before the school is to be reopened on the 17th April, 2023.
On Monday upon the school’s opening some learners whose parents are at the camp shunned the classes.
The district’s health office says they are yet to receive reports of the bed bugs infestation at the school.
