Arrests in Blantyre After Children Found on Streets, Parents Charged

Three parents are have been arrested in Blantyre on suspicion that they failed to look after their children.

Acct to Blantyre Police Deputy Spokesperson, Ivy Mwalabu, the three have been charged with neglecting to provide food for children and they will appear in court soon.

Mwalabu has identified the suspects as Akim Msinchalo, Patricia Zidana and Fales Sumsa.

Their arrest followed police’s intervention in Blantyre City on Tuesday this week which led to apprehension of 8 street connected children who are loitering around the city.

Upon being seriously quizzed, the kids disclosed that they stopped going to school and were sent to the streets in order to provide food for their families.

The Police publicist say investigations are underway to arrest the parents of the other children,
