Anti-Corruption Bureau Restricts ESCOM CEO Power Deal Amid Corruption Allegations

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) receives allegations of corrupt practices related to a 300MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) involving Escom, Westland Construction, and ACSG Consortium.

ACB spokesperson Egrita Ndala signs a press statement announcing the issuance of a Restriction Notice.

The ACB exercises its powers under Section 23 (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act to issue a Restriction Notice.

The Restriction Notice is issued to Escom’s Chief Executive Officer, prohibiting him from engaging in any transactions or agreements related to the 300MW PPA.

Escom’s CEO is officially restricted from proceeding with any activities pertaining to the PPA with Westland Construction and ACSG Consortium.

The ACB commences its investigation into the allegations of corrupt practices surrounding the PPA.

Ongoing updates are expected to be provided as the ACB’s investigation progresses.
