Protesters in the capital Lilongwe have been blocked from proceeding to Kamuzu Palace to present a petition to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

The group will instead deliver the petition at Lilongwe District Commissioner’s office and not Kamuzu Palace as previously planned.

The crowd is now charged and there is currently heavy presence of both police and army officers stationed at a number of business places in town to help protect property.
