All is in place, government assures the general public

Government through the ministry of education has assured the general public that schools from northern and central region have prepared for its third term school opening.

The schools opened on 17 April 2023 joining the southern region school which opened on 27 March after resumption of classes following cyclone Freddy induced temporary closure.

However, in very unique cases where the school have internally displaced persons (IDPSs), the ministry have advised the IDPs to leave the classes in the morning to pave way for learners to have their classes without disturbance.

Mphatso Mkuonera public relations officer in the ministry of education has the said that the ministry is working with councils to make sure that the health and safety of learners is not compromised by fumigating classrooms occupied by IPDs.

Mkuonera also said that the ministry still stands on the ban of the selling of already cooked food in Schools and counselling of learners to ease the trauma.

Meanwhile, the ministry saddened confirmed that almost 113 learners lost their lives due to tropical cyclone Freddy devastations.
