LOYALTY REWARDS—Mtemankhawa (centre) receives a dummy Cheque
By Gary Samati
Macsteel Malawi has rewarded the company’s longest serving employee, Biston Mtemankhawa.
Mtemankhawa, who has recently retired having worked as cleaner and messenger, has received K1,250,000 from Macsteel.
According the company’s commercial manager Polyanna Pinto, Mtemankhawa is entitled to about K100,000 according to his grade but the company felt the need to go beyond his expectations.
“We want this to be an inspiration to other companies and staff members within Macsteel,” she said.
Mtemankhawa was surprised with the gesture.
“I was not expecting such an amount. I do not even know what to do with the money yet but, after discussions with my wife, we will come to a decision. This is a great gesture by the company and I am very grateful,” he said.
