Msonda, Nyirongo Obtain Injunction Against APM’s Appointments

Two officials from the former ruling democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Ken Msonda and Joe Nyirongo have obtained an injunction against recent appointments made by the party’s president Peter Mutharika.

The two said the injunction will stay until the party’s Secretary General calls for a National Governing Council meeting.

Recently, Mutharika has been making party appointments that including the appointment of Esther Majaza as DPP’s Deputy National Director responsible for Central region, Daod Chikwanje as Deputy National Director for Protocol responsible for Eastern Region and Peter Mukhito as Deputu National Director of elections for the Southern Region.

There have been divisions and disagreements in the Party with some members questioning the legality of the appointments saying they were not speaking to the DPP Constitution.

Nsonda told the media that the injunction they have obtained is stopping all the appointments made from 2 October 2021 and that includes the position of Party spokesperson that Shadreck Namalomba holds.

Msonda said these appointments are Unprocedural, illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic.

“We are trying to save the party from destruction, we know our leader Professor Peter Mutharika did not make these appointments but those that have surrounded him did, so we want to stop this and bring back the mighty united DPP” said Msonda.

However, DPP’s spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba ha said the party is yet to be served with the injunction

He has however urged party followers to be calm and patient saying the party’s position will be announced after they are served with the order.
